Why We Started Go Passport Photo
Taking passport photos used to mean traveling to a local pharmacy, standing in line, paying $15 to $25 for a set of two photos, and hoping the retail clerk got the head size and background lighting right.
When online passport photo tools first appeared, many promised convenience but introduced hidden costs or serious privacy concerns: uploading high-resolution facial portraits to unknown cloud servers, requiring subscriptions, or placing aggressive watermarks over generated files.
We built Go Passport Photo to change that model completely. By utilizing modern web browser capabilities (HTML5 Canvas APIs and WebAssembly), we made it possible to align, inspect, background-adjust, and tile passport photos right on your phone or laptop with zero server dependencies.
